A team of scientists from Sumy State University received a patent of Ukraine for a utility model No. 162650 “Method for increasing the heat resistance of carbon steels”.

According to the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovations, the state registration of the patent was carried out on April 8, 2026. The intellectual property right came into force on April 9, 2026.

The authors of the development are:
Nadiya Kharchenko, Tetyana Loskutova, Andriy Degula, Myroslav Karpets, Ivan Degtyarev, Anna Neshta, Yaroslav Kononenko.

The proposed utility model concerns a method for increasing the heat resistance of carbon steels by combining electrochemical nickel plating and subsequent chromium plating. A feature of the development is the pre-treatment of samples in an electrolyte based on nickel, sodium and magnesium sulfates, which allows significantly improving the operational characteristics of the material at high temperatures.

The results obtained have practical significance for increasing the durability and reliability of parts operating in high-temperature oxidation conditions, in particular in the energy, mechanical engineering and metallurgical industries.

We congratulate the author team on a significant scientific achievement and wish them further success in research and implementation of innovative developments!
